A new trade policy announced by the Pakistan government has pushed aside labour rights to attract foreign direct investment in the country. The recommendations made in the new policy suggest increase in working hours from the present 8-10 hours a day, repeal of weekly holiday and abolition of the over-time system for textile and garments workers.
